Terms of use
The app and your licence
VDJ Controller is made by Michael Essandoh, trading as Essandoh.DEV. When you download it you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it on devices you own or control. Apps from the App Store are also covered by Apple's standard licence agreement, and apps from Google Play by Google's terms.
Free trial
Every new install can use every feature free for 7 days. When the trial ends the app stops sending MIDI until you unlock it. Nothing is charged automatically, and your settings are kept.
Paying and restoring
Unlocking is a single in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play, at the price the store shows you. It is not a subscription. You can restore it free on other devices signed in to the same store account.
Refunds
Payments are handled by Apple or Google, so refunds follow their policies. Request one from the store you bought from.
Referral codes
A referral code may lower the price of the unlock. Codes can expire or run out, cannot be exchanged for cash, and one code applies per purchase. We may withdraw a code that is being misused.
Using it on stage
VDJ Controller sends MIDI to software you choose. Test your setup before a show. The app is provided as it is, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for lost performances, bookings, data or other indirect losses. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana.
Privacy policy
What stays on your device
Pad and layer names, colours, MIDI settings, fader positions and the profile for each computer you connect to. The app also creates a random four-letter device ID so a computer can tell two of your devices apart. None of this is sent to us.
MIDI you send
MIDI goes straight from your device to your computer over USB, Bluetooth or your local network. It never passes through our servers. In Wi-Fi mode the app announces itself on your local network so your computer can find it.
Purchases
Apple or Google process your payment. We never see your card details. We receive a confirmation of the purchase, which the app uses to unlock.
Trial and referral codes
To stop the trial restarting on reinstall, the Android app sends an anonymous install ID and the trial start date to our server. If you enter a referral code, the app sends the code, your platform and, after you buy, the store's transaction ID, so we can apply the discount and credit whoever shared the code. We keep these for 1 year.
Permissions
Bluetooth, to act as a Bluetooth MIDI device. Local network, for Wi-Fi MIDI. The app asks for each only when you choose that connection, and works without the ones you refuse.
This website
The site is hosted by OVHcloud. Its servers keep standard access logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, which we keep for up to 12 months for security. We use analytics only to measure the site's performance and improve it. It collects no personal data.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing michael@essandoh.dev. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
